When their father is taken by an unknown assailant, teen siblings Cage and Mia are left with only his old belongings, including a metal orb that holds a great power. It hurls them back to medieval China, where they are captured by the fourteen-year-old Ming emperor. Fighting to prove their innocence and find their father, Cage learns he belongs to a royal lineage that has battled evil for nearly a thousand years, and that surviving the past means commanding the dead and bringing sacred statues to life.
